Compelling Uses of Stone in a Corporate Office
Let’s step inside the new Access Systems headquarters office in Waukee, Iowa. In last month’s post, we shared details of the exterior building facade, and now we invite you to take a look at the interior surface applications, which include a stunning Dekton atrium, quartz countertops, and an eye-catching reception desk. CKF Professional Sales Rep Jim Fisher, along with CKF Commercial Project Manager Steven Tyrell and Commercial Estimator Carolyn Vance-Hayes, worked with Downing to make this project one to remember.
Walking into the building leads you to the sleek reception desk, where friendly staff greets you with a smile. The reception desk front displays Private Studio Collection quartz in Et Bella for a modern look. Corian in Deep Nocturne contrasts the quartz and wraps around the desk to provide the perfect worktop. Mirrored waterfall ledges are the perfect finishing touch to this sleek design.
Past the reception desk is the marvelous atrium! The atrium consists of two walls featuring Dekton vertical wall cladding, which stretches from floor to ceiling. The wall cladding is in the color Portum and makes for a spectacular addition to the space.
The 8mm thick Dekton wall cladding is fixed to the wall through a direct adhere system, which helps create a smooth finish from top to bottom. In total, 2,188 square feet of Dekton were used to cover both atrium walls and give the space a one-of-a-kind look.
The grand staircase platform is wrapped in Dekton in the polished color, Zenith. The pure white color comes in a matte finish, which replicates the natural texture of stone and provides a nonslip surface. You may be wondering, why add Dekton to a stair platform? Dekton is incredibly durable and versatile when it comes to unique applications, which makes it the perfect material for this job.
If you can peel your eyes from the beauty of the atrium, just down the hall you’ll find the employee break room. The massive kitchen in this space features Private Studio Collection quartz countertops and a full-height backsplash in Et Bella. The never-ending island features waterfall ledges that offer the perfect touch of modern elegance.
Across from the kitchen sits the recreation area, where employees can enjoy games, comfy seating, and plenty of sunlight. This area features a beautiful two-way fireplace, which is encased in Dekton. Utilizing the Dekton color, Portum, this fireplace surround offers warmth and relaxation to all employees, whether they’re indoors or out.
Moving back downstairs, the lower level coffee bar displays Private Studio Collection quartz countertops and backsplash in Et Bella. The brightness provided by the countertops makes for a great contrast against the moody cabinetry. We’d stop here for a coffee break any day!
