WHAT IS GRANITE?
Granite is a natural stone that is formed from various minerals, like quartz and feldspar, that create unique patterns on the stone.
SEALER
Due to granite’s natural porosity, it needs to be sealed in order to avoid stains. A sealer is applied to your granite countertop prior to installation; however, if your countertop is a high-traffic area, you may want to seal it more often. This can be done by a CKF professional.

DEEP CLEANING
GREASE STAINS
Create a spreadable paste of equal parts baking soda and water and cover the stain with the paste. Cover the paste with plastic wrap and tape it down on each corner to create a tight seal. Allow the paste to sit overnight or 24 hours, then use a bladed edge to gently remove the hardened paste. Rinse the area with warm water and use a soft rag to dry the granite.
LIME SCALE AND HARD WATER STAINS
Apply a paste of equal parts baking soda and white vinegar. Let the mixture sit on the surface for 10-20 minutes, then remove with cold water using a non-scratch scouring pad. Repeat as necessary.
SCRATCHES AND CHIPPING
- For scratch and chip repair, contact your local CKF showroom.
HEAT AND UV EXPOSURE
- Granite can be installed outdoors due to its naturally occurring colors, which will not fade due to direct sunlight.
- Granite is heat resistant. Always use a trivet under hot items and countertop appliances. Scorching and cracking may occur if granite is exposed to high heat.
